After browsing around the wiki for a bit and noticing the comments on Revolution being AWOL, I went to http://www.kuruotoshikou.com/ and noticed this page for the Kuro-Box/Pro:

http://translate.google.com/translate?u ... uage_tools

I don't think it's available yet, even in Japan, but it sure sounds like an LinkStation Pro in the Kuro Box style.

Comments?

Thanks for the tip rosco! I've been wondering the same thing myself. The Pro has been getting screamin' reviews for its high-end performance domination of all the competition (remember the days when it was just the nslu2 and the linkstation?) out there and I'm surprised the Kuro community hasn't caught up with it yet. I would think Buffalo, if smart, would use the kuro community as its beta test market for future releases.

Has anyone been fortunate enough to be able to land a kuro-ized PRO version yet? If/when, please do post and share your news!

I have gotten an update from Revolution. Kurobox Pro WILL be available in the US soon. Revolution hopes to be accepting orders and shipping units in mid April. The KuroPro has been so popular in Japan that there is no inventory to ship right now. Stay tuned for pricing etc.
ydef, check out linkstationwiki.net To see the status of hacked LSPros.

Brian,

That's great news! I'm looking forward to it--must start convincing the wife I need a new one even though my HG isn't even two years old yet. . .

I found this while trying to get more info on the pro. Shipping is a little strong but if you want one its not too bad.

yes but the problem is again it's a special japanese version with inbuilt 100 volt psu!!! if I am not wrong. There is a good market for kuro. I don't see the problem to release an universal and japanese version together.
Anyway, each time it's the same.

Hi,

Well, I am waiting for the new Kuro box pro as well. But it is taking so long for them to release it, so I asked a friend I have in Japan to check it out locally to see if he could buy it over there and take it home to Europe.

So, he checked it a couple of days ago. It seems they can be bought in japan for aprox. 110 Euro. (Which I consider cheap), and it also seems that they are out of stock right now. There is no supply for the Pro box. And also that it is a 110 Volt only version. Not an ideal solution but I still have a 220 to 110 converter lying around from my first Kuro sooo, 110 Euro is kind of a good price. I think I will ask him to buy one when they become available again.

Still it would be nice for the Pro to be available world wide. (Maybe the forum would get a 2nd life because of it).

Kris

I have a friend in Japan that I was going to ask as well, thanks for the heads up on stock availability.

Although It would be nice if revolution could get the universal power supply version on the road! :?

:)
Cheers,
Stonie.

Thanks,
Derek

Hi,

My friend was in Yokohama this weekend and found that Pro
is available in that city. Apparantly there is no real supply issue.

They've got lots and lots of electronics shops in Japan, big ones too.
They tend to be clustered in certain areas, if they are on sale it is
easy to get your hands on one.

Sadly my friend is not planning a trip home to Europe shortly,
otherwise I would certainly ask him to buy one now...

Kris

I have received an update from Revolution. Release is slated for May in the US. In the meantime they sent us some great docs such as the User's Guide and Spec. Check out the docs at http://kurobox.com/mwiki
