Check out the new contest and bounty:

I'm John Causey, the new head of Revolution here at Buffalo Tech.
Since taking over, we've lowered the price of Kuro's to a more
reasonable level, and I've instituted a new contest and bounty system
for the KuroBox community.

The contest is open to anyone who has a unique use with their KuroBox.
We're looking for the coolest and most innovative use of a Kuro. You
can win a new TeraStation, LinkTheater, or other wireless gear from
Buffalo.

The bounty is created to foster the development of the KuroBox
community. We will offer bounties for features and projects that the
community wants, and offer Buffalo merchandise for the completion of
these bounties. For example, right now you can win a new Terastation
Pro if you port U-Boot to the KuroBox.

On top of all that, we're also in the design phase for the Kuro3, a
new KuroBox for 2006.

If anyone has the ability to flash a kuroboxhg using a jtag I can have a u-boot port available to test within a week.

A u-boot has already been created for a mpc8241 board
(Synology DS-101G+).

GPL source is here

The price drop is very nice. However, the web page stinks.

I don't want to spend my life filling in your forms, giving you my work resume, number of girlfriends, number of children, how many cereal bars I eat in a day, my vital statistics ad infinitum. I just want to know how much shipping to the UK is.

Why can't you just display the info people want as a nice simple table? Shipping in US is X, Canada is Y, Europe is Z etc. etc.

When I know how much the whole package is, then it's worth my time to fill in the form. Sorry to gripe so. But when the 1st thing you check on immediately grinds you into serious form filling when all you want is a figure, well it kind of puts a downer on the whole site upgrade.

So how much does it cost to ship a new Kuro HG to the UK ?

And I really am sorry to have to moan so much but this kind of "we will extract as much info out of you as possible" type of web design occurs far too frequently.

We contract out the shopping cart system to another vendor, and part of their system determines shipping info automatically through Fedex's web api, using your address.

If you're worried about us using your personal data, don't. We never disclose anything to any third party, nor do we send any advertisements (email or snail).

still, a guesstimate of the shipping costs would be great.

it comes as a surprise at the end of the order, and for international shipping, plus customs taxes, I found it a big surprise :(
I'd have preferred to be told before.

It always let's you know how much it will be before you pay. Unfortunatley, the shipping is different for every country (not just for the EU in general), as each country has a different customs/duty system. So, such a list would not only be mildly inaccurate, but also quite lengthy.
