It cold be a good idea to add a dynamic ip updater for people like me that don't have an static IP connection.

Slyver - do you have plans to add FLAC to this image? I use a Roku Soundbridge with mt-daapd and the only thing missing is flac support. ;-)

I did not plan to add this, but i can do it anyway !
I'm sorry but I do not have much time for my kurobox right now (i was working on another project : making Transmission bittorrent client working with torrentflux, and i'm moving in my new flat in less than 2 weeks, that means that i'll have no internet at home for few weeks).

Anyway i'll try to make an update package for mt-daapd with flac support ;)

Here is a script to install mt-daapd cvs-20060324 with flac v1.1.2 :
Code:
cd /tmp
wget http://switch.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/flac/flac-1.1.2.tar.gz && tar xzf flac-1.1.2.tar.gz && rm flac-1.1.2.tar.gz && cd flac-1.1.2
./configure --disable-altivec --disable-local-xmms-plugin --disable-asm-optimizations --disable-shared --prefix=/usr && make && make install && cd .. && rm -r flac-1.1.2
cd /tmp
wget http://nightlies.mt-daapd.org/dl.php?FILE=mt-daapd-cvs-20060324.tar.gz && tar xzf mt-daapd-cvs-20060324.tar.gz && rm mt-daapd-cvs-20060324.tar.gz && cd mt-daapd-cvs-20060324
export LDADD=-lFLAC && ./configure --with-id3tag=/usr --enable-oggvorbis --disable-altivec  --disable-local-xmms-plugin  --enable-flac --enable-sqlite && make && make install
cp contrib/mt-daapd.conf /etc
mkdir /mnt/mp3 && chmod -R 777 /mnt/mp3
cp contrib/mt-daapd-ssc.pl /usr/local/sbin && chmod +x /usr/local/sbin/mt-daapd-ssc.pl
cd .. & rm -r mt-daapd-cvs-20060324
cd /usr/include/ && h2ph sys/syscall.h && h2ph asm/unistd.h && h2ph bits/syscall.h
perl -i -pe 's/extensions .mp3,.m4a,.m4p,.ogg/extensions .mp3,.m4a,.m4p,.ogg,.flac/g' /etc/mt-daapd.conf
perl -i -pe 's/ssc_prog \/etc\/mt-daapd-ssc-script/ssc_prog \/usr\/local\/sbin\/mt-daapd-ssc.pl/g' /etc/mt-daapd.conf

If you want to be able to play ogg files, you'll need to compile ffmpeg !

Slyver - that would be great!

Running MT-DAAPD streaming FLAC to a Soundbridge will finally allow me to get rid of my CD player ;-)

I'm very interested in the VPN server punch list item...
It is one of the top 5 reasons why I wanted a Kuro in the first place.
Which binaries are you considering using? FreeS/WAN, one of the other related projects, Openswan, strongSwan or something else?
I read on the IPsec wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPsec
that the IPsec stack was finally released in the 2.6 Linux kernel

Sylver - thanks for following up with the script. Unfortunately I encounter the following error when trying to compile FLAC (either 1.1.2 or 1.1.1). Any thoughts on what might be wrong?

Code:
.....
.....
.....
cc1: Invalid option `altivec'
cc1: Invalid option `abi=altivec'
make[4]: *** [bitbuffer.lo] Error 1
make[4]: Leaving directory `/tmp/flac-1.1.2/src/libFLAC'
make[3]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/tmp/flac-1.1.2/src/libFLAC'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/tmp/flac-1.1.2/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/flac-1.1.2'
make: *** [all] Error 2
root@KURO-BOX:/tmp/flac-1.1.2#

Then you're not using my image as my gcc understand the altivec options (even if altivec is not supported by kurobox's CPU) !
Then to solve your problem, follow what MikeV said here :
Quote:
edit flac-1.1.2/src/libFLAC/Makefile to remove altivec's from CPUCFLAGS

So after running the ./configure, edit the makefile, look for "-maltivec -mabi=altivec" and remove them ;)
Then follow the script ;)

Thanks again Sylver! That did the trick. I spent hours a while back trying to figure that problem out. Should have asked for help earlier!

hi Sylver
if you should ever release a new version of your image, could you add the darvin calender server, or any other caldav server?

http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/calendarserver/wiki

best regards
