Not wanting you to get any rest Sylver, I have another request!!!

You mention the SABnzbd utility in your 'how to get stuff working' thread, but there does not appear to be the install script you describe in /scripts. I tried running
Code:
python /usr/bin/SABnzbd.py -d -f /usr/share/doc/SABnzbd-0.1.6/SABnzbd.ini
but it does not seem to do anything?

You're right, i forgot to write some scripts ...
Your command is good, after you have to log to :
http://kuro-box:8080/sabnzbd/ (not http://kuro-box:8080/ as described before)

hmm, still no joy, it just says there is no server there? Do you have a copy of a working SABnzbd.ini file?

Hi,

Did you create the download directory for the program ??

If found it wouldn't work until I created one that was the same as in the .ini file.

Jason.

What's the easiest/quickest way to add a program to run at startup, for example this one! I have looked at the /scripts/ entries on the Kuro and I didn't want to start just messing around there.

What you can do is a file /etc/rc.d/init.d/SABnzbd containing :
Code:
python /usr/bin/SABnzbd.py -d -f /usr/share/doc/SABnzbd-0.1.6/SABnzbd.ini

then chmod +x /etc/rc.d/init.d/SABnzbd
then create a link in /etc/rc.d/rc2.d to make the application start @ kuro startup :
ln -s /etc/rc.d/init.d/SABnzbd /etc/rc.d/rc2.d/S99SABnzbd

The application will now start at every startup ;)

OK, been away a bit and got an internet upgrade, so that's why I haven't been moaning for a few days. But I am back now!

I now have a cable connection of 10Mbit down and .5Mbit up. If I download an NZB with software on my PC, my download connection maxes out at about 1200kbps (yes, it is nice, isn't it). However, using SABnzbd the best I get is around 355kbps. Any ideas how I can soup this up? For info, wget also only gets a max of about 400kbps.

PS both the PC app and the Kuro are using the maximum 8 threads to my news provider (obviously not at the same time!!)

I got this king of problem too : on my computer i get the file @ 800KBytes/s but i get the same file at 150KBytes/s on the kurobox using wget ! I do not know where does this come from ! But using xbt_client, i sometimes download to 900KBytes/s, it's strange and i can't explain what's happening !

Woah,

Tried updating to version 0.2.1 of this (to try and solve the speed issues). I had already successfully updated to 0.1.8 so I thought no problems. However I was told to update cherrypy as well and lets just say I trashed my SABnzbd installation.

Cut a long story short I managed to restore the cherrypy files from the earlier version directly from the Sylver V5.0 image (thank god, I find this util very useful).

I am back at square one and I thought I would ask a couple of questions:

1) Has anyone sucessfully upgrade to v 2.1?
2) Has anyone got a good alternative to SABnzbd (functionality - GOOD! interface - BAD!)
3) Has anyone got newsan working? (I tried but got a bit stuck - the updates you have to do to perl through the CPAN shell seem endless).
4) Sylver I think you have managed this (you suggest in another thread it was on your task list and is now done). Can you give me a clue, or perhaps the next version of your image is just around the corner??!?!?

It seems you have the same problem the Synology DS106 owners have with SABnzbd, we also max out around 350k or thereabouts. Its down to CPU power (or so our "guru" thinks).

Perhaps you should look him up on the Dutch mobileforum.nl, under Ed_X
