I have a Kuro Box HG.

I setup my box with "Improved Debian image made by Sylver" including the 2.6.20.2 update.

Some weeks ago, I had a problem rebooting the box. The power LED would blink for several minutes, then the diag LED would blink 6 times. When I switched it off and on again, the kernel reverted to 2.4.17.

I was messing around and got to this Wiki page on U-Boot. I downloaded the "Kernel 2.6.17.1 for Kurobox HG" file and extracted in the root directory, and rebooted.

Well, on the next reboot, the box booted up in the 2.6.20.2 kernel.

But, when I rebooted again, I got the symptoms I described above: power LED blink for several minutes, followed by repeating 6 blinks of the diag LED.

The problem is that now I can't get out of this "boot sequence". I wonder if the U-boot stuff I did is stopping the box from booting the 2.4 kernel...

I'm pretty sure this isn't a problem with the hard disk, since I've been using the Kuro-Box for months (78 days without reboot!).

Any help appreciated :)

Update: Solved the problem by clearing out hda1 and starting from scratch.

I suspect kernel-2.6.20.2_kurobox_universal-20070313_testing.tar.gz is causing the problem.

I spent the whole afternoon testing and solving by trial and error (as I was trying my best to preserve my data and settings). :?

Test:
1. Clear out hda1
2. Extract debian-sarge-2.6.17.1-mh1_kuro-box-20060623.tgz
3. Extract kernel-2.6.20.2_kurobox_universal-20070313_testing.tar.gz *
Result: Power LED blink for several minutes followed by Diag LED 6 blinks repeatedly.
* This file does not have boot/loader.o, so I don't think the problem is due to a corrupted loader.o as mentioned in a few other threads.

Test:
1. Clear out hda1
2. Extract debian-sarge-2.6.17.1-mh1_kuro-box-20060623.tgz
Result: Boot ok.

I had the same behaviour after my last "apt-get upgrade". After googling a bit, I found that:

http://forum.linkstationwiki.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3460

It seems to be a problem between the kernel and libc6 in Debian Lenny (testing)... did you upgraded the system before rebooting? I will be going back to Sarge and pinning libc6 :?
