I was wondering if someone could clarify the pci express port ... is this internal? By using the word 'port' it makes it sound like it's external. I'm familiar with the pci-express 'slot' in a PC ... so does the pci-express port allow one to plug in any pci-express capable card one wishes?

Thanks for anyone that has one that could clear this up for me.

It is a PCI-X 1X slot. It is directly behind the front panel facing out. It is very uncomfortable, but is what it is

Thanks Waite.

Although from the hardware specs in the pdf from the link you provided, this is actually a PCIe x1 slot as opposed to a PCI-X, which wouldn't work in a PCIe slot.

You're absolutely right that the card placement looks to make for an uncomfortable fit. How much height is there between the card slot and the front of the case? It's hard to imaging an entire PCIe card fitting in there.

I would be interested in adding a wireless N card, or an additional GIGe connection, as I think it's the PCIe slot and it's potential that really makes the case for this NAS.

Anyone have success with adding their cards to this port? I'm curious as to what most people are using it for.
